SEO and GEO for large companies: how to build presence in search and AI answers
Verifiable content, technical structure and brand clarity to expand discovery in search engines and generative experiences.

SEO organizes the discovery and understanding of pages in search engines. GEO is a term used for initiatives aimed at presence in answers generated by artificial intelligence. For large companies, the work starts with reliable, accessible and consistent information about brands, solutions and topics where the organization has real expertise.
The change of interface does not remove the need for editorial and technical quality. A company can publish a lot and still leave relevant questions unanswered. It can also have valuable knowledge buried in outdated documents, pages without context or structures that are hard to navigate.
What remains as the foundation
In its guidance on AI features in Search, Google states that SEO fundamentals still apply and that it does not require special files or markup for these experiences. Eligibility does not guarantee display. This guidance describes Google's systems; other products may have different criteria.
Check crawling, indexing, internal links and URL consistency. Publish the main content in accessible formats and keep titles and descriptions that represent the page. Structured data should describe real, visible information consistent with the type of content, without promising a privileged position.
Build an agenda of strategic questions
Map what customers and buying committees need to understand before deciding. In enterprise business, that includes integration, governance, implementation, comparison criteria and the limits of the solution. The goal is not to repeat a keyword across many texts, but to offer answers that help evaluate a choice.
- Define the problem and answer the main question up front.
- Explain concepts with examples and conditions of application.
- Identify the responsible organization and the publication date.
- Tie verifiable claims to relevant sources and evidence.
- Connect the topic to the solutions and to other useful content on the site.
Give consistency to the organization's entities
Names of brands, products, units and leaders need to be understandable across the site as a whole. Explain the relationships between the parent company and its businesses, avoid contradictory descriptions and keep institutional pages up to date. Clarity helps readers and systems understand who each piece of information refers to.
An editorial architecture can organize topics by area of work and go deeper into related questions. That does not mean creating dozens of nearly identical variations. Each page should have its own function, a sufficient answer and a clear path to continue the investigation.
Measure presence without turning observations into guarantees
Track indexing, queries, landing pages and relevant actions on the site. For generative answers, keep a documented set of questions and record the system, date and context of each observation. A single screenshot does not represent all the answers different people will receive.
In a hypothetical example, a company might find that it is remembered for an old category and little associated with a new offer. The work is to review the quality and consistency of the information available, and to investigate perception outside its own site. No editorial change guarantees a future citation.
Does GEO replace SEO?
No. They are related efforts in discovery and understanding, with forms of presentation and measurement that can vary between systems.
Is there a file that guarantees appearing in AI answers?
There is no guarantee of that kind. Learn about the Website practice and how to organize multi-brand site architecture.
